walking backwards
I happen to gaze upon the star scattered sky
and though all the stars were glistening with mystery
one happened to catch my eye
I gazed and I gazed
and upon gazing steadily at this star which I chose
or star which chose me
the others began to disappear and fade to blackness
for only one star I was able to see
The star's light from eons away began to pulsate
coldness began to seep through the ground upon which I lay
I get up to leave but I don't get very far
And nothing seemed to matter anymore than this star
Nothing seemed to matter at all.
